Director of Music

The Reverend Richard Evans has been Organist and Director of Music since May 1995. Richard  was Organ Scholar at Jesus College, Oxford, in the 1950s and obtained an honours degree in Music and Latin. At the same time he played Clarinet in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. After Head of Department posts in a Grammar and then Comprehensive School in his native Yorkshire, in 1970  he became County Music Organiser for schools in Angus, moving to a similar post in Fife in 1975.  Since moving north to Scotland, Richard has conducted many choirs, orchestras and operas.These have included Angus Choral Society, Dundee Choral Union, Dundee University Bach Choir, St. Andrews University Musical Society , Fife Sinfonia, Tayside Opera and Fife Opera and the Dubai Singers.  He has given clarinet and organ recitals in England and Scotland. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Scottish Episcopal Church in 1976, and is a member of the Clergy Team at Saint Andrew's.
