As a church community we have had a commitment to support the work of Traidcraft for very many
years. Traidcraft were amongst the earliest organisations to support fair trade for producers, a
commitment which has grown over the years. In their own words - “Fair trade, defined simply, is
when products including food, drink and craft, are sourced through a fair supply chain, where small-
scale farmers, producers and artisans are treated with dignity, respect, equality and fairness.” They
are also concerned with sustainability and ensuring that their suppliers are enabled to survive and
adapt to climate change.
When we are worshipping together, I will be selling Traidcraft items after church on a
regular basis. Purchasing these goods is another way of supporting our commitment to
sustainability and supporting those for whom climate change is a current challenge. Purchasing
items from us also enables the church to put money back into the work of Traidcraft and other
organisations working with people whose lives are much more challenging than our own. Questions,
suggestions and comments to Jenny Evetts, email: mtpleasant@hotmail.co.uk, phone:
